ProjectsProjects - Evaluation of the School Community Regional Arts for Youth ProgramThe evaluation will investigate the school/community partnerhsips that are being developed through the School Community Regional Arts for Youth Program (SCRAYP) which is based at the Footscray Community Arts Centre. SCRAYP is currently running arts based programs in a number of schools in the western region of Melbourne. The programs in schools use community arts mentors, trained by the SCRAYP program, to work with th eyoung people in developing performances related to themselves and their community. The evaluation will document and analyse the extent to which school community partnerships centred on the arts, enable young people to create themselves, community and culture in their own terms. In consultation with SCRAYP personnel, the evaluation has begun to ascertain the underpinning values and beliefs of the program about youngpeople, community, culture nad the role of the arts. The evaluation will continue to document effective ways of working with young people that will connect them to and define their community, and will document the extent to which the arts engages young people in a school setting.
