Restorative Practices accreditation

Four schools were invited to participate in an accreditation process in 2008 using the Restorative Practices in Catholic School Communities framework developed by the Student Wellbeing Unit. Core teams from each of the schools had successfully managed the introduction and implementation of restorative practices and were now working through a sustainability phase. They presented what they had done before an interview panel headed by Helen Butler from Australian Catholic University with representation from CEOM and a Principal. Schools were asked to deliver documentation showing evidence of their work in Restorative Practices.

As they move into the enrichment phase these schools are being called upon to share their journey with others. Each of the schools (Mercy College - Coburg, St Dominic’s School - Camberwell East, St Peter’s School, Keilor East and Larmenier – Hampton) were presented with a plaque by Maria Kirkwood (Assistant Director Religious Education and Pastoral Care) to record and celebrate their success in Restorative Practices in Catholic School Communities. A further six schools will be invited to apply for accreditation in 2009.
