Project Title: Quality indicators for children's services in indigenous communities

Chief Investigator: Associate Professor Glenda Macnaughton

Funded by: Faculty of Education Competitive Grants

Project Summary: This pilot project, using participatory action research, will establish research protocols for researching quality indicators for children's services in the remote indigenous Wangkatjunka community in Western Australia. While research acknowledges the importance of children's access to community responsive and culturally relevant early childhood services to support children's healthy social, emotional and cognitive growth and development, the Wangkatjunka community has not had access to children's services to date. They plan to redress this. This project will document the processes and issues involved in developing a research-based approach to identifying quality indicators for a proposed culturally-relevant children's service within the Wangkatjunka community.
