Faculty of Education Competitive Grants

Project Title: Musica Viva in Schools: A case study and evaluation

Chief Investigator: Dr Neryl Jeanneret and Mr Andrew Swainston

Funded by: 2007 Faculty of Education Competitive Grant

Project Summary: The Musica Viva In Schools program caters to both secondary and primary settings. This study proposes to examine and evaluate the implementation of one offering (the gamelan group, Byar) and the accompanying teaching kit in a metropolitan primary school. It is anticipated that the outcomes of the study will provide information for the improvement and broadening of the Musica Viva program to take greater account of the needs and interests of the primary generalist rather than the specialist. This is the second of a pilot study with Musica Viva that will form the basis of an ARC Linkage grant later in 2007.
