Faculty of Education Competitive Grants

Project Title: Supporting Schools in Challenging Circumstances

Chief Investigator: Dr David Gurr and Dr Lawrie Drysdale

Funded by: 2007 Faculty of Education Competitive Grant

Project Summary: This project will investigate school improvement strategies that have been shown to be effective in enhancing student outcomes in an underperforming Victorian government school. Underperforming schools are those schools that have been identified through the Diagnostic Review process for Victorian government schools to be performing significantly below expected levels in at least two major areas (e.g. student literacy and student retention). The study will utilise a conceptual framework arising from previous research by the researchers that identifies and explains successful school improvement interventions.
