Faculty of Education Competitive Grants

Project Title: Crossing the Discipline Divide: A transdisciplinary approach to curriculum design

Chief Investigators: Dr Sally Godinho and Mr Bradley Shrimpton

Funded by: 2007 Faculty of Education Competitive Grant

Project Summary: The project aims to provide a case study of the implementation of transdisciplinary curriculum in three independent school settings. It will seek teacher and student perspectives on transdisciplinary learning experiences; and examine the connectivity between teachers’ espoused theory and enacted practice. It is anticipated that insights gained from this project would inform a large scale project in government schools. The research is significant because transdisciplinary curriculum has gained system-wide endorsement and has a highly visible presence in schools, yet little research has been undertaken to examine the planning processes for implementation and the outcomes for teachers and students.
