Project Title: An evaluation of an intervention program targetting bully/victim problems

Project Summary: A curriculum based intervention program targetting pupils involved in bully/victim problems will be evaluated for its effectiveness to enhance social and coping skills with quantitative and qualitative data gathered before and after implementation. The program is based on the theoretical framework and lanugage of coping identified by Frydenberg and Lewis (1993), with a focus on reducing 'non-productive' coping strategies such as worry, self-blame and tension reduction that are most readlily associated with depression, and increasing communciation skills which play an important part in effective interactions and asking for help. A quasi-experimental pre-post control group design will be used with upto to 3 secondary schools in the Melbourne area.
