Project Title: Investigating mental health problems in young deaf people

Project Summary: The project aims to investigate the factors which may contribute to and/or explain the high prevalence rate of mental health problems and the provision of appropriate mental health services, care and treatment for young deaf people.  The project is relevant to current policy directions outlined in the Federal governments National Action Plan on Mental Health and has significance in terms of future funding for services.  It is expected that the project outcomes will be used to develop specialised services for the treatment and care of young deaf people with mental health problems.
