Project Title: Principles of Learning and Teaching P-12 (PoLT) On-line Professional Learning Resource

Investigator(s): Dr Julianne Moss, Dr Mary Dixon, Jennifer Dixon, Kim Senior, Michael Francis, Ric Carnale, Sally Godinho

Funded by: Department of Education and Training (DET)

Project Summary: Staff from the Curriculum Teaching and Learning team developed an on-line Professional Learning Resource suitable for use by teachers participating in the PoLT training. The objective of the Professional Learning Resource is to strength teachers’ pedagogical practice to improve student learning outcomes. The Resource is one of a suite of support initiatives being developed for teachers within the context of DE&T’s Blueprint for Government Schools. Specifically, the Resource complement the Principles of Learning and Teaching (PoLT) P-12 Professional Development program currently being implemented in schools and clusters.

The project resulted in the production of an on-line Professional Learning Resource for use by individual teachers, professional learning teams, whole school groups or clusters. The different needs of these groups were addressed and easily identified throughout the Resource. The Resource builds on the Principles of Learning and Teaching P-12 Leading Change training which incorporates six professional development modules to enable teachers to further develop their knowledge of the Principles, their components and current research about learning.

The PoLT Online resource can be found at the DET website. Click here for a copy of the pdf.
