Project Title: Standard Setting and Examiniation Processing for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons' Basc Surgical Sciences MCQ Examination.

Project Summary: the objectives are to provide the College with routine processing and analysis of the Basic Surgical Sciences MCQ Examination. The elements of the project included:

  • configurating and validating of scanning applications for the MCQ examination;
  • producing formatted data files tailored to analysis requirements;
  • implementating of Rasch scaling to examination data to calibrate item difficulty and discrimination profiles for both dichotomous and partial credit items;
  • implementation of Rasch scaling of examination data to assist the creation of consistent examination difficulty profiles;
  • assessment of examination reliability;
  • implementation of Rasch scaling of examination data to create candidate abilty estimates and item candidate maps; and
  • calculation of cut scores and updating of the item-logit database.
