Melbourne Graduate School of Education Problem Gambling Research and Treatment Centre

Welcome to the PGRTC

The Problem Gambling Research and Treatment Centre is a joint initiative of the University of Melbourne, Monash University and the Victorian Government.

Established in 2007, it aims to drive cutting-edge research, the creation of new clinical practices and will play an important leadership role in the translation of research evidence into practice and foster a culture of learning in the Gambler's Help service sector. 

The overall purpose of the Centre is to be a ‘Thought Leadership’ centre, where innovation, service development, research and knowledge transfer are brought together within an environment of rigorous evaluation. The proposed functions of the Centre are to:

• Conduct cutting-edge research into problem gambling treatment approaches
• Develop new clinical practices
• Train new and existing staff working in gambler’s help services
• Establish a postgraduate qualification in problem gambling treatment
• Conduct a sustained epidemiological study of the various forms of gambling
• Provide training on problem gambling to the gaming industry

If you are aged 18-25 and would like to participate in a study about young adults' perceptions of gambling please click on the link below.  It will take you to a 15 minute questionnaire asking about your perceptions of gambling and betting, experiences of gambling and betting and some questions about yourself.  No identifying information is asked, so participation is confidential.  In compensation for your time, everyone that completes a questionnaire will receive a FREE movie ticket.
