Kevin Rudd, MP public address: Australia's Future Growth Challenge

The Melbourne Graduate School of Education, was honoured to host Mr Kevin Rudd, MP for a public lecture entitled 'Australia's Future Growth Challenge' on Tuesday 23 January. This was Mr Rudd's first public address since becoming Federal Labor Leader.

The lecture was chaired by the Director of the Melbourne Education Research Institute (MERI), Professor Barry McGaw.

The 430-strong audience comprised of the Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellors, University of Melbourne staff and students and Vice-Chancellors and Deans of Education from RMIT, VUT, Monash and La Trobe University. ALP politicians in attendance included Shadow Education Minister Stephen Smith MP, local member Mr Lindsay Tanner MP, and the Shadow Minister for Employment & Industrial Relations & Social Inclusion, the Hon. Ms Julia Gillard.

With significant media attendance on the day, the event resulted in a great deal of media coverage.
