Melbourne Graduate School of Education Master of Teaching

Primary Teaching : Course Structure and Delivery

Students complete studies in the theory and practice of Education, specific studies in how best to promote learning in each of the curriculum areas and address all aspects of the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS). There is extensive supervised school experience.

In the fourth semester, students undertake a specialised applied study of teaching literacy and numeracy with a strong emphasis on practical teaching.

The Master of Teaching (Primary) is available only as a 200-point course taken over two years - there is no early exit point available.

Unlike the Early Childhood and Secondary streams, the Primary stream can only be taken in standard full-time mode (no accelerated or reduced-load options).
