Course Information
Knowledge Management
Knowledge Management challenges conventional management
theories. It champions the importance of organizational culture and
learning, and makes an important distinction between the "explicit" knowledge
an organization is able to manage and the "expert" knowledge
held in the minds of employees. It recognises that the intelligent
use of IT systems is vital to an organization's success, but that IT
systems alone cannot support an organisation's growth. The study of
Knowledge Management looks to untangle the complexities of knowledge
- its creation, accumulation, utilisation and transferal - and to maximise
organizational growth and efficiency.
The University of Melbourne's Knowledge
Management program draws on expertise from three distinct fields
(Information Technology/Information Systems, Management and Organisational
Learning), from three different faculties and graduate schools (Education, Economics/Commerce
and Science.) This combination of expertise makes our program
one of a kind, world-wide, and provides a stimulating and challenging
learning environment for those wishing to develop or advance a career
in the knowledge management field.
Our innovative KM program gives you:
- The practical skills to implement powerful knowledge management
strategies.
- The know-how to increase creativity and productivity within your
organisation.
- Career opportunities in a dynamic and rapidly expanding field.
"The most exciting thing I have found with this course
has been the discovery of completely new ideas and integrating
them with my own understanding, knowledge and experiences in
all areas of my life!"
