CELote (Western Metropolitan Region Centre for Excellence in LOTE) was established in 2004 to raise the profile of Italian and Japanese schools, foster positive attitudes to second language learning and provide leadership in exemplary language teaching practices within the Western Region during 2005 - 2007. The program is currently being utilised by four schools: Strathmore Secondary College, Essendon East Keilor District College, Moonee Ponds West and Mackella Primary schools.
Language and Literacy Education is a partner to this initiative and offers support and guidance in the following areas:
- Strategic planning advice
- Professional development for staff
- Research training
- Research and planning for effective transition
- Materials development
- Evaluation and monitoring input
