School Support Services
The Melbourne Graduate School of Education (MGSE) prides itself on providing quality service for all students. We recognise however that many international students have unique issues not encountered by local students. The School's Student Experience and Support Officer aims to assist with these issues. Contact Katherine Petrucco for more information.
Academic Support
MGSE organises a series of workshops throughout each semester to help you with your academic work. These workshops cover areas including writing, referencing, pronunciation, exam preparation and more.
Postgraduate Academic Writing Course (PAWC) [pdf, 115kb]. The School employs a dedicated English language tutor to provide individual tuition to undergraduate and postgraduate international and non-English speaking background students, according to student needs and upon referral by School staff.
The Academic Skills Unit (ASU) offers advice and instruction on academic and language skills, providing workshops, classes, online courses and printed resources covering a broad range of study skills and written and oral communication. Individual tutorials can be arranged to focus on specific needs.
AIRport is an Academic Interactive Resources portal which provides a range of interactive online academic literacy materials. These resources are expected to be of particular benefit to new students, international students and students from non-English speaking backgrounds.
The School of Graduate Research (SGR) provides Upskills - a series of short courses and seminars open to all University of Melbourne postgraduate students.
School Placement Support
MGSE organises a series of workshops to prepare you for before and after your placement.
Social Events
In addition to providing a School home base for students, your support co-ordinator organizes a number of social events throughout the year to give you the opportunity to make friends and meet academic staff members, as well as key staff from the School and the wider university community. Check your email regularly for upcoming events.
