"As a professional staff member working within the University of Melbourne's Information Centre, I am responsible for providing advice to prospective students about a range of courses; tuition fees; entry requirements and more generally about universities and the higher education sector itself.
I wanted to enrol in a course that would provide 'theory' which I could translate into 'practice' in my professional role. The Graduate Certificate in University Management is the course I decided would meet my requirements. I now have insights in the higher education sector that have enhanced my sense of what it means to manage, lead and work in a university setting. Through my studies, I have learnt much about professionalism and identity, which are both key concepts in the modern workplace.
This course has proven to be very enjoyable and I would recommend it to professional staff members in a university context. I believe that the course offers an opportunity to learn more about the higher education sector and in doing so has helped me forge a career at the at one of the world's foremost Universities."
