Are you interested in primary teaching?About this careerPrimary teachers work with children between the ages of 4 and 12, in classes from Prep. to Year 5 and across the middle years of 6 to 8. You’ll teach in the key learning areas of English (reading, writing, speaking and listening), mathematics, science, technology, society and environment, creative arts and personal development, and health and physical education. So you’ll have plenty of variety, as well as the scope to develop children's interests and use creative activities such as art, music and sport. You can also specialise in one or two subjects of your choice. About the rewardsPrimary teachers are in high demand in both the state and private school systems. As a first year graduate teacher, you can expect to earn around $45,000, rising to around $50,000 after four years.
