Graduate Certificate in Teaching English as an International
Language
The Graduate Certificate in Teaching English as an International Language
(TEIL) enables practising ESL teachers to obtain formal qualifications
in ESL/EFL teaching and to upgrade their teaching skills.
This course is only delivered off-shore, in a combination of distance
and intensive modes, and is only available to group enrolments.
Degree Programs
Currently all offshore programs are fully taught by Education School
staff who travel to the partner institute and utilise their facilities.
Degree programs can be "packaged" to provide the optimum outcome
to the client, and to meet the educational requirements of the particular
country.
The School is able to "broker" programs that combine subjects
from our own programs with those from other faculties and graduate schools in this University.
Short (non-award) courses
We also have experience in the delivery of short courses or professional
development programs, designed to specific client requirements. For
example, coursework subjects can be modified to meet the specific needs
of clients, or programs can be developed to a brief, and delivered offshore
by Melbourne Graduate School of Education staff.
Study Tours
These are similar to the short courses, but involve cohorts of students
travelling to Australia to participate in short-term programs. These
include lectures on a specific topic eg curriculum development, combined
with visits to schools and meetings with the Victorian (State) Department
of Education and Training, or other relevant government bodies as defined
by the program.
Consultancy
The School's research centres are led by some of the world's leading
educationalists, and their staff are highly sought after internationally
to address educational issues at ministerial and institutional levels.
