Welcome to Studies in Exceptional Learning and Gifted Education (SELAGE)
Exceptional Learning
The work undertaken in Unit for Exceptional Learning is underpinned by an explicit model of learning that focuses on the processes for knowledge enhancement. The model draws from Dr John Munro's work over the years in multiple ways of learning and learning disabilities and the implications for teaching.
Gifted Education
Model of Gifted Learning
The approach to gifted education in SELAGE is underpinned by an explicit model of gifted learning that recognises the range of areas in which gifted knowledge and thinking exist. It focuses on the range of ways in which gifted students learn and think and the implications of this for developing effective instruction.
Gifted Education Goals
Our goals for the Gifted Education include:
- continuing to develop our research agenda in gifted learning and making available to educators and schools their outcomes
- offering world quality gifted education subjects at the post graduate level and contributing to the pre-service teacher education areas
- building and extending international contacts in gifted learning and education
- assisting the community to optimize the opportunity for gifted learners to learn and to be supported in their regular schools
