This document defines policies of The University of Melbourne to assist in ensuring the security of the University’s Information Technology (IT).

The University of Melbourne: IT SECURITY POLICY GUIDELINES
This document is written to elaborate on the elements in the IT Security Policy, with the aim of adding practical guidelines to assist personnel in complying with the IT Security Policy.

ITS Technote 107: Defensive Computing Strategies - Although the document is now reasonably outdated (references to Banyan etc.) it covers many aspects of a security policy. It is especiall good for physical security.

ITS Technote 113: Advice to LAN Administrators for Minimising the Risk of Illegal Copying of Server Software (1993), shows you how to check the security settings and access controls on your server. It also gives advice on how to set up secure access to Administrative and Teaching Lab servers. Once again this document is showing its age.
