Projects
"Climate Change and Sustainable Development:
The Response from Education"
A joint research project among leading education institutes. Dianne is the MGSE team leader on this international project.
The joint research project uses the opportunity of being half way through the Decade for Education for Sustainable Development to summarize the experiences with ESD gained in the countries represented by the universities involved in The International Alliance of Leading Education Institutes. On this basis the joint research project aims at carrying out and presenting an analysis and a set of recommendations for future ESD and future research in ESD. The main results and considerations will be presented at the August 2009 conference of the International Alliance. Based on the conclusions at this meeting, the climate summit in Copenhagen in December 2009 will be used partly as an opportunity to create public and professional attention to the important role of education for sustainable development, and partly as an opportunity and event for the presentation of the findings and recommendations. The aim is to contribute with a fruitful and nuanced input to the discussions about climate change challenges.
The aim of the research project is twofold. First, the task will be to carry out an analysis during the year 2008-2009, involving a number of recommendations for future ESD. Second, the idea is to develop and concretize a number of long term collaboration projects among the institutions involved.
Ideas Lab - Dianne is the MGSE contact
The Broadmeadows Innovation and Learning Lab – or ‘Ideas Lab’ – aims to challenge the way we think about learning and teaching, and find new ways to take technology into the classroom.
Based at the Hume Global Learning Centre in Broadmeadows, Ideas Lab will provide:
- A hub for national and international research into technology in learning and teaching
- A testing (and proving) ground for new ideas
- A place for teachers and students to experiment and share ideas.
Ideas Lab has been formed through a unique partnership between the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, Microsoft, Intel, Cisco Systems, the University of Melbourne’s Graduate School of Education and Hume City Council.
Through this partnership Ideas Lab will have access to international thought leaders in information technology and the latest in educational and technological advances.
