Role
I have worked in the field of early childhood, as an early childhood practitioner for more than ten years. Prior to this, I had used early childhood services as a parent. My journey began by questioning the norms and practices as a parent and then as a practitioner. I tried to engage with children, families and staff with notions of social justice and equity and exploring varied paradigms to be able to do so. My quest and struggle to enable all voices to be heard equally made me dissatisfied with practices that were attached to inclusion. I am now a researcher/lecturer with the Centre for Equity and Innovation in Early Childhood (CEIEC), in the Melbourne School of Graduate Research at The University of Melbourne, trying to rethink current ideas about inclusion, especially the inclusion of cultures using postcolonial theories.
