Professional learning and development

The CEIEC draws on its research programs to offer a series of seminars, workshops, publications and other means to disseminate what is learnt through its research. Professional development programs also assist in research dissemination. The Centre conducts training programs, action learning projects and international learning exchanges that draw on its research.

Features of CEIEC Professional Learning

All sessions:

  • research-based insights into particpants' chosen topics - the problematics and the possibilities;
  • presentations by practitioner-researchers who combine theory and practice to rethink practices and innovate in their delivery of services and curricula;
  • access to international and national leaders of the early years field.

Additionally in a program of three of more sessions on a topic we offer:

  • an action-learning approach in which participants will be encouraged and enabled to explore their dilemmas, niggles and uncertainties and to find ways forward;
  • a coherent program of skill-building that uses critical reflection to change practices;
  • a formal Certificate of Attendance (from the CEIEC if required).

CEIEC Professional Learning Support

The CEIEC can provide:

  • appropriate text-based learning resources for participants (these may be copied by organisers)
  • a copy of PowerPoint slides used in the session
  • a 'Further Reading list' and a list of relevant on-line resoures, access via the CEIEC website - these will enable and encourage particpants to explore topics and issues in greater depth and over an extended period of time
  • further resource materials (at an additional cost) as negotiated with the organisers
  • a CEIEC evaluation for each session (if required). Organisers can receive a summary of participants' evaluations if requested.
