CEIEC Graduate and post-graduate research

A feature of postgraduate study in the CEIEC is the access postgraduate students have to collaborative peer support and supervision. This is fostered through several formal and informal processes.

  • Postgraduate support group. The CEIEC postgraduate seminar group which meets monthly to provide peer support and supervision for postgraduate students. Seminar topics are decided collectively by the group and focus on the specific self-identified research needs and interests of the students. In addition, there is a strong electronic support network within the CEIEC postgraduate student group that enables students to offer and seek support at key points in their postgraduate studies and a CEIEC postgraduate student homepage is currently under construction to provide on-line support and information to students. (contact Patrick Hughes for 2008 details)
  • Mentoring for public presentation and research dissemination. The CEIEC actively mentors postgraduate students in the public presentation and dissemination of their research including conference presentations, writing for professional and refereed journals and providing opportunities for postgraduate students to contribute their research to graduate and undergraduate teaching programs.
  • Links with Visiting Scholars. CEIEC postgraduate students also have the opportunity to discuss their research with Visiting Scholars. The CEIEC postgraduate group has successfully gained a number Academic Activity Grants which have enabled them to fund visits and presentations by leading national and international scholars.
