CEIEC 2008 Conference

Honoring the Child, Honoring Equity 8: Young citizen(s), New Citizenship(s)

Call for Papers

We invite seminars, colloquia, workshops, learning circles and posters that explore the issues and questions that address the broad conference themes of the place of children's rights, human rights and equity throughout the early childhood and children's services field. Papers that explore these themes as they apply to pedagogies, practices, programs, policies, theories and research will be especially welcomed.

We invite papers that share stories of hope, challenge and/or change in relation to these themes and that inspire others to work for change within their areas of responsibility in children's services and early childhood.

The conference attracts a diverse international audience and includes practitioners, policy-makers, researchers, trainers, children's advocates and activists.

The Call for Papers deadline has now been extended.

Deadline: 8th August 2008

Conference Themes and Aims

  • How are the possibilities for citizenship and for children being imagined and practiced in diverse contexts?
  • How can we transform relationships with children to create greater reciprocity and respect?
  • What are the local and global possibilities for enacting ethical citizenship processes and practices with young children?
  • What local and global linkages can inspire new possibilities for children’s citizenship(s)?
  • How do issues of diversity, difference and identity intersect with the possibilities for honouring children, honouring equity?
