Evaluation of the Netbook trial

The study is designed to:

  1. monitor the effectiveness of the trial of the netbooks;
  2. involve a process of continuous monitoring and reporting over the period of the trial;
  1. involve assessment of the effectiveness of the netbooks in making progress towards achieving student, teacher, school and system objectives;
  1. assess the trial program’s implementation strategy and identify procedures to facilitate any further rollout of the devices across schools;
  2. collect benchmark data to assist in the measurement of the netbook’s effectiveness on a range of criteria;
  3. identify opportunities for improvement over a two year period;
  4. adopt a participatory approach that will support the active involvement of the DEECD Project Team and school-based stakeholders;
  5.  implement a reporting schedule for trial schools to report to the team at several points over a two-year period regarding their use of the netbooks to facilitate and identify opportunities for continuous improvement of the implementation.
