John O'Toole, Kate Donelan, Clare Irvine, Neryl Jeanneret
This project, which is jointly funded by Arts Victoria and the Department of Education and Early Childhood (DEECD) seeks to research and evaluate partnerships between schools and the professional arts sector with a focus on excellence of student outcomes through improved student engagement, social learning, personalised learning, creativity and arts-related knowledge and skills so as to:
- act on National Education and The Arts Statement priorities and further investigate one of the Statement's Key Principles: 'Connecting schools with the arts and cultural sector enriches learning outcomes';
- identify characteristics of effective partnerships between schools and the professional arts sector with the focus on student engagement, social learning, personalised learning, creativity and arts-related knowledge and skills; and
- increase understanding of policy makers, educators and arts organisations of the characteristics of effective arts and education partnerships and make recommendations for future policy and practice.
ACE staff will be engaged in the first stage of this project which will focus on reviewing national and international literature in order to make a recommendation regarding the most suitable methodology to evaluate partnerships.
