Post-graduate Certificate in the Teaching of ShakespeareACE is proud to announce its newest course, the Post-graduate Certificate in the Teaching of Shakespeare. This course is offered in association with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), Stratford upon Avon, UK, and includes teaching by RSC staff as well as ACE's own distinguished drama team. We also acknowledge gratefully the generous assistance of the University of Warwick, UK, in establishing this course. The course will offer to teachers and teaching artists active, leading edge academic & performance approaches to teaching Shakespeare and key literature. It will provide subject knowledge, artistic and pedagogical skills, and understanding of contemporary issues including intercultural approaches, multiliteracies, use of information technologies , inclusion, gender and cultural entitlement. The course will be run in association with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford on Avon. The course comprises an intensive practical workshop week at the beginning of each semester, followed by guided practice implementing the techniques and concepts in the teachers' own classrooms. The first cohort will be admitted in Semester 1, 2008. The course is designed to articulate with our forthcoming Master of Arts Education, provisionally scheduled for 2009/10, to be offered in collaboration with the Victorian College of the Arts. The Post-graduate Certificate will be able to comprise 50% of the Masters - ie the first year.
